Welcome to the Home Page of the Friends of the Volusia County Library Center

The Friends was founded in 1968 for maintaining an association of persons interested in libraries and focusing public attention on the Library Center.

The Friends also are involved in stimulating the use of the Library Center's resources and services ,as well as, encouraging and receiving gifts, endowments and bequests to the Library Center and supporting and cooperating with the Library Center in developing library services and facilities for the community.

A RECENT ATTRACTION

Mark Lane: the News-Journal's syndicated humorist, spoke on Wednesday, November 12, at 2:00 p.m. in the Adult Auditorium. His topic: "The Sunshine State Beat-How to Write About Florida Weirdness Without Scaring the Tourists."


UPCOMING DATES IN 2009

  • Tuesday, January 27, 2:00 p.m. Identity Theft by Florida Bar Association member Susan Weindorf Stacy.

  • Tuesday, March 10, 2:00 p.m. Flagler Friends Repertory Company present a skit “The Life and Times of Henry Flagler.”

  • Wednesday, March 18, 5:30 p.m.  A poetry interpretation presentation sponsored by the Sister Cities Association of Volusia County.

  • Friday, April 3. Annual Author Luncheon at the Halifax River Yacht Club, featuring Les Standiford, author of Last Train to Paradise: Henry Flagler and the Spectacular Rise and Fall of the Railroad that Crossed an Ocean.
